If there’s truth to the proverb “Where there’s smoke there’s fire,” then Ryan Seacrest may be joining hour 3 of ABC’s “Good Morning America” aka “GMA.” Reports initially stated executives were interested in him replacing Amy Robach and TJ Holmes on “GMA3: What You Need To Know” because he’s “family-friendly.” Moreover, the focus on a single host would bring a fresh format to the third hour of “GMA,” which has been the fodder of countless gossip outlets since the Daily Mail revealed the affair between Robach and Holmes to the world.
Since Ryan Seacrest doesn’t come from a news background, it would make sense for “GMA3” to focus more on entertainment. But that didn’t work for Michael Strahan, Sara Haines and Keke Palmer. “Strahan, Sara And Keke” was cancelled in 2020, and it would be interesting to see if Seacrest would fare better on that show than Michael Strahan, who also co-hosted “Live” with Kelly Ripa.
One of Ryan Seacrest’s reasons for leaving “Live” was to reduce his workload, but will he come back to daytime TV if he’s offered the job at “GMA3”? And since Seacrest’s syndicated radio show “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” and “American Idol” are based in Los Angeles, would the offer become more appealing for him if the show moved from New York City to the West Coast?
Only time will tell if there’s any truth to these rumors. We’ll share updates if this story develops further.
