Michael Oher had a successful run playing in the NFL as an offensive lineman for seven years, and even reached the rarified air of becoming a Super Bowl champion in 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens. But he became known beyond the world of sports in 2009, when his life was portrayed in the Academy Award-winning film “The Blind Side.”
The heartwarming movie told the story of how Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy brought Oher into their family as a teenager, after abrupt stays at several foster homes. According to Oher, he was never adopted by the Tuohys, and was instead placed in a conservatorship without his knowledge. Moreover, he is still in the conservatorship today after almost 20 years, and Oher’s allegations have made national headlines.
During this interview on “The Jim Rome Show,” Michael Oher doesn’t speak to guest host Damon Amendolara about his issues with the Tuohys, but does express gratitude for all that helped him overcome a harsh youth. In addition, Oher points out instances where he was misrepresented in “The Blind Side.”
