WWPR (Power 105.1)/New York‘s legendary Afternoon Talent Angie Martinez released her memoir “My Voice,” and it’s kind of amazing. In addition, it’s a definite success now that it’s landed on the highly respected New York Times Bestseller List.
The woman is also known as “The Voice Of New York” has so many stories about her times with iconic artists, and reading about the rise of hip-hop from her perspective is really special. Angie’s memories of working her way up the radio ranks at WQHT (Hot 97)/New York, her previous employer of over 20 years, is relatable. And learning how she found her voice is inspiring.
Angie’s style of writing feels as though you are listening to her on the radio tell you her story, and even though I’ve only read 1/3 of “My Voice,” I’m all in.
