Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg started podcasting about 10 years ago–before it was as cool and profitable as it is today. Their “Juan Epstein” podcast was the first time for the public got a chance to hear the two on a public platform, and they went on to host a Saturday morning show on WQHT (Hot 97)/New York, and eventually worked their way up to the coveted weekday 6-10 am shift.

Even though the “Cipha/Rosenberg Experience” was a bigger platform, Ciph and Rosenberg continued to produce their podcast. When Cipha Sounds exited Hot 97 in 2015, “Juan Epstein” was still a thing. But they said goodbye to their listeners and sunset their podcast on May 25, 2017.

In addition to having an evolved hip-hop nerd format, Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg’s podcast has a slightly different name. “Juan Ep” is the new moniker, which helps them avoid a legal issue for using the name of the “Welcome Back Kotter” character, and gives the podcast distance from the extremely controversial Jeffrey Epstein.
