On May 24th, the host of “The Voice” Carson Daly announced that Adam Levine was leaving the show after 16 seasons. Carson shared the news on the “Today Show,” the other NBC TV show he’s seen on, and many fans were shocked and sad to see Adam Levine go, since Adam and Blake Shelton are the only judges who have been on “The Voice” every season since its inception.

But Adam Levine has another TV show on NBC that is definitely worth watching. He’s the Executive Producer of “Songland” now. Two episodes have aired so far, and both John Legend and will.i.am walked away with songs that sound like hits.

While countless reality TV music-based competition shows focus on singers, “Songland” highlights songwriters and producers, but is inclusive of performers. Here are three reasons why “Songland” is such a good show.
Artists You Care About
“American Idol” and “The Voice” are centered around stars in the making, “Songland” has a different artist or group from different genres. However, all are relevant. The first two episodes featured John Legend and will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, respectively. Forthcoming shows will star the Jonas Brothers, Kelsea Ballerini, Meghan Trainor and Old Dominion.
Really Good Songs
The quality of the songs presented is really high, and artists have had great music to choose from every week so far. Even though the songs presented are really strong, producers wisely only play a verse and the hook. This way, viewers get to enjoy observe the music making process without it feeling tedious or laborious.
The Talent Behind-The-Scenes
The are no celebrity judges on “Songland.” Instead, three very accomplished songwriters/producers (Ester Dean, Shane McAnally, and Ryan Tedder) give feedback and work directly with the songwriters who perform and pitch their songs to the panel.
Tune in to NBC on Tuesdays at 10P/9C to watch “Songland,” and see past episodes right here.
